Tips for Sending Messages

  • When responding to a listserv, keep your messages brief.

  • Don't send large attachments to the mailing list. Bear in mind that whatever you send gets multiplied by 200 and sent out again.  A 2MB file becomes a 400MB bottleneck.

  • Include a portion or a summary of the message you are responding to.

  • Don't use all upper cases when writing.

  • Identify yourself.

  • Do not "flame" others on the listserv.

  • Don't be critical of people's queries or comments.
